The Kano State Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has demoted a Court Registrar, Adamu Salisu, over forgery and falsification of affidavits of service.
Spokesperson of the Judiciary, Baba Jibo-Ibrahim, said the decision was taken at the commission’s 84th meeting held on Friday.
Salisu, formerly Registrar of High Court No.13, was moved from Grade Level 13 to 12 after admitting to forging a bailiff’s signature and signing documents as a Commissioner for Oaths. He was also given a stern warning against further misconduct or influencing others, with a threat of harsher sanctions, including criminal prosecution.
Jibo-Ibrahim explained that the action was to uphold integrity and discipline in the judiciary.
In a related case, Yusuf Ayuba, a Clerical Assistant at High Court No. 8, Miller Road, was demoted from Grade Level 5 to 4 for abandoning his duty post for four months without permission.
The JSC said the measures would serve as deterrents to other staff, stressing its zero-tolerance policy on misconduct and commitment to discipline, accountability, and professional ethics.
