Doctors under the National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners in the Federal Capital Territory have suspended their three-month strike following the intervention of FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
In a statement signed by the association’s chairman, Dr. Okoreaffia Ogbonnaya, the doctors expressed gratitude to the minister for his leadership in addressing their welfare concerns, including initial payments of owed salaries and allowances.
The strike, which began over unpaid entitlements and other issues affecting staff of the Area Council Service Commission, has now been called off, with members directed to resume work immediately.
The association pledged to continue working with the FCT administration and Area Council Chairmen to ensure all outstanding payments are settled, commending Wike for restoring confidence among healthcare workers in the territory.
