The African Action Congress (AAC), has condemned the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), for demolishing homes in Karsana, Abuja, leaving hundreds of residents homeless.

In a statement on Saturday, the party described the exercise as “brutal, inhumane, and unjustifiable,” accusing the FCTA of acting without due process or alternative shelter for affected residents, many of whom were women and children.

“The demolition reeks of class bias and impunity,” the statement read. “It is shameful that in a country facing housing shortages, the government is worsening the suffering of the urban poor.”

AAC also criticized the administration for allegedly favoring elite interests over the rights of ordinary citizens, claiming some residents held valid documents for their properties.

The party called on civil society, human rights groups, and the international community to hold the FCTA accountable and demanded immediate compensation and a halt to further demolitions without proper resettlement plans.
