The management of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, has launched an investigation into the sudden death of Mr. Olabode Ibikunle, a lecturer in the Department of Social Science Education.

Mr. Ibikunle reportedly died last Thursday while in the company of Miss Glory Ojochegbe, a student of the same department; a development that has sparked public concern and speculation.

In a statement released on Friday, the university’s Registrar, Yahaya Alilu, expressed deep sorrow over the loss and urged the public and media to avoid speculation as investigations continue.

“The sudden demise of Mr. Olabode Abimbola Ibikunle in the company of Miss Glory Ojochegbe Samuel (Matric No. 24GE2034), is a tragic and disturbing event,” the statement read.

The university also dispelled rumours linking another student, Miss Bello Yahaya Lubabat of the Department of Educational Administration and Planning, to the incident.

It warned against spreading misinformation that could harm innocent individuals.

Reaffirming its commitment to justice and transparency, the university called for restraint and responsible reporting while the investigation is underway.
