The African Democratic Congress (ADC), has condemned the Federal Government’s plan to sell Nigeria’s refineries without a forensic audit, calling it “criminal” and a betrayal of public trust.
In a statement on Friday, the party said over $2.8 billion was spent on turnaround maintenance of the Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna refineries in the past 15 years, with little or no improvement.
It described the planned sale as an attempt to conceal corruption and mismanagement, insisting that a detailed audit must be made public before any sale occurs.
“Selling the refineries without auditing who mismanaged the billions amounts to shielding fraudsters and denying Nigerians justice,” the ADC said.
The party urged the government to suspend the privatisation, publish audit reports, and prosecute those responsible for the waste.
