The Plateau State Government has criticised the Nigerian Army for failing to arrest or neutralise the attackers who killed 27 farmers in the Tahoss community of Riyom LGA on Monday.
Commissioner for Information, Joyce Ramnap, said the attack occurred just 200 meters from a military checkpoint on an access road, yet no arrest was made despite reports that the soldiers engaged the assailants.
Speaking on Channels TV’s The Morning Brief on Friday, Ramnap said, “None of the attackers were arrested or captured. The community is not remote, so we expected better response.”
She stressed the need for a thorough investigation, saying the governor had requested arrests to be made, adding, “If the military made close contact, they should have pursued and apprehended the suspects.”
