The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has initiated moves to expel the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over alleged sabotage and anti-party conduct.
Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, said a disciplinary committee led by former Foreign Affairs Minister Tom Ikimi is probing multiple petitions accusing Wike of working against the PDP during the 2023 elections and making inflammatory comments about destabilizing PDP-controlled states.
Abdullahi described Wike as a liability, noting that many within the party believe it would be stronger without him.
“Those sabotaging our progress are better off out of the party,” he said.
The party is awaiting the committee’s report but has vowed decisive action, including expulsion, if recommended.
However, some voices within the PDP, like Segun Sowunmi, have urged caution to avoid deepening internal divisions.
The development underscores persistent cracks in the party as it seeks to rebuild ahead of 2027.
