A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Gwagwalada, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Thursday sentenced a 20-year-old artisan, Suleman Ahmed, to sweep the Gwagwalada International Market for two weeks after he was found guilty of stealing two bicycles worth N70,000.
Ahmed, a resident of Dukpa village in Gwagwalada, was convicted on charges of criminal trespass and theft.
He pleaded guilty to the offence and begged the court for leniency, promising not to repeat the act.
Magistrate Olatunji Oladunmoye, in his ruling, ordered that Ahmed clean the Gwagwalada market daily from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. under the supervision of a correctional officer.
