President Bola Tinubu will today, Thursday, July 17, at 5 p.m., preside over a special Federal Executive Council (FEC), session in honour of late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga announced the tribute session via Facebook on Wednesday night.
Buhari died on Sunday in a London clinic at the age of 82 and was buried Tuesday evening at his Daura residence, Katsina State.
His remains were flown back aboard a Nigerian Air Force jet, FGT 001, accompanied by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and family members including his widow, Aisha Buhari.
President Tinubu, former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Embaló, Niger Republic’s Prime Minister Ali Zeine, and several top Nigerian officials received the body at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Airport.
Buhari was laid to rest at 5:50 p.m. amid prayers and outpourings of grief.
Notable attendees included Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, former VP Atiku Abubakar, and governors from Kwara, Kano, Jigawa, Borno, and Kaduna States.
