Coalition of Niger Delta stakeholders has urged the Federal Government to renew the pipeline surveillance contract with Tantita Security Services Limited, citing its success in combating oil theft and boosting crude output.
Speaking at a press conference in Warri, Delta State, on Thursday, the Niger Delta Defenders Forum (NDDF), comprising ex-agitators, youth leaders, and civil society groups, described Tantita’s efforts as a game-changer in securing Nigeria’s oil assets.
NDDF National Coordinator, Comrade Omubo Ibori, noted that the partnership with Tantita, owned by ex-militant leader Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), has restored accountability and curbed illegal bunkering. “Tantita has delivered where others failed.
Renewing the contract is key to sustaining national economic recovery,” he said.
As the contract signed in 2022 set to expire soon, the group warned that failure to renew it could destabilize the region and reverse progress made in securing oil infrastructure.
They appealed to President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), to act swiftly in renewing the agreement.
As of press time, the federal government has not issued an official position on the matter.
