The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), has revealed that the country’s broadband penetration reached 48.81 percent as of June 2025, with tele-density standing at 79.65 percent.

Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, announced the figures during a mid-year industry performance briefing in Abuja.

He noted that active voice subscriptions now stand at about 219 million, while broadband subscriptions have surpassed 97 million.

Maida attributed the growth to increased investments, regulatory interventions, and efforts to bridge connectivity gaps in rural and underserved areas.

Reaffirming the Commission’s target of 70 percent broadband penetration by 2027, Maida said the NCC remains committed to reducing data costs, improving service quality, and enhancing digital inclusion.

He urged stakeholders to sustain collaboration in expanding telecom infrastructure, stressing that affordable and reliable connectivity is vital to Nigeria’s economic growth.
