A Federal High Court in Lagos has discharged and acquitted former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, of allegations of money laundering and fraud.
Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, ruling on a no-case submission on Tuesday, held that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), failed to establish a prima facie case to warrant Fayose entering a defence.
The EFCC had re-arraigned Fayose alongside his company, Spotless Investment Limited, on an 11-count charge of laundering N6.9 billion allegedly committed during his tenure as governor.
