The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission LASIEC has announced that it will issue Certificates of Return to all newly elected chairmen and councillors on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at its headquarters in Sabo, Yaba.
The presentation ceremony was initially slated for Tuesday but was rescheduled due to the national public holiday declared for the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
In the local government elections held on Saturday, the All Progressives Congress APC secured all 57 chairmanship seats and 375 out of 376 councillorship positions.
The only councillorship seat won by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party PDP was in Ward D of Yaba LCDA.
LASIEC described the polls as peaceful, free, fair, and credible. The Commission commended voters, election observers, and security agencies for their orderly conduct throughout the process.
The Certificates of Return officially affirm the elected candidates, enabling them to assume office and commence grassroots governance across the 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas of Lagos State.
