The Jigawa State Government has declared its full support for the Federal Government’s Sector-Wide Approach (SWAp), initiative aimed at unifying health sector funding and enhancing service delivery across Nigeria.

The endorsement was announced by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdullahi Kaimu, during the opening of a four-day capacity-building workshop for health facility managers and key stakeholders on Monday.

Dr. Kaimu was represented by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim.

Dr. Ibrahim said the SWAp initiative promotes transparency, accountability, and better policy alignment by enabling real-time tracking of health expenditures via an integrated digital platform.

He explained that the programme seeks to consolidate funds from federal, state, and local governments into a single, unified funding framework for the health sector.

Speaking on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Health, Mr. Gebiral Peter noted that the initiative will eliminate duplication and fragmentation in public healthcare programmes.

He added that it will improve coordination and deliver more efficient and effective health outcomes nationwide.

Also addressing participants, the State SWAp Coordinating Officer and Special Adviser to the Governor, Dr. Atiku Hafizu, said the workshop aimed to acquaint stakeholders with the programme’s objectives and operational strategies.

He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery for all residents.
