Nearly a year after President Bola Tinubu signed the N70,000 minimum wage into law, nine states are yet to implement it for teachers, leaving many on outdated salaries.
According to the Nigeria Union of Teachers, states like Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, Nasarawa, Yobe, and Zamfara have not begun implementation.
Adamawa moved from N18,000 to N30,000 but not the new benchmark.
Gombe excluded primary teachers, Kaduna cited ongoing verification, and Enugu offered a separate N50,000 award that falls short.
NUT President Titus Amba urged compliance, warning that the continued disparity harms teacher morale and weakens education delivery nationwide.
