Galatasaray head coach, Okan Buruk, has confirmed that the club is prioritizing the signing of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen over Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.
Although Galatasaray are in advanced talks to sign Calhanoglu, Buruk revealed that the club is pausing those negotiations to focus fully on securing Osimhen from Napoli.
Reports indicate that the Turkish champions recently submitted a third bid for Osimhen, offering €40 million upfront and €35 million in installments, matching Napoli’s valuation.
Speaking on the matter, Buruk said: “Everyone wants him. He’s one of the best midfielders in Europe. I’ve known him since he was 16 and his love for Galatasaray is immense. But the Osimhen issue is more significant for our budget right now. We’ll revisit Calhanoglu later.”
On Calhanoglu’s current status at Inter, Buruk added: “He plays for a club that rightly expects a high fee. If you sell a player of his calibre, replacing him will also cost a lot.”
Galatasaray’s pursuit of Osimhen reflects their ambition to strengthen their attacking lineup ahead of the new season.
