The Labour Party (LP), has declared its 2027 presidential ticket open to all aspirants, stating it will not grant special preference to any candidate, including its 2023 flagbearer, Peter Obi.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, criticized Obi’s recent political alliance with a new coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), calling it a betrayal and a repeat of past political miscalculations.
Arabambi described Obi’s 2023 candidacy as a “blunder” that the party would not repeat, affirming that the Labour Party would conduct transparent primaries ahead of the next general election.
“No aspirant will be favoured this time around,” he asserted.
He also condemned the new coalition, branding its members as “Yahoo Yahoo politicians” responsible for Nigeria’s challenges since 2015.
“Nigerians may wish him well in that ungodly coalition, but they must remember it’s the same alliance that brought disaster,” Arabambi warned.
The party reiterated its commitment to internal democracy, encouraging credible Nigerians to vie for its 2027 presidential ticket.
