Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area following renewed violence and a breakdown of law and order.
The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, announced the curfew in a statement on Saturday, stressing that the move was aimed at curbing the unrest and preventing further chaos.
“The government views these disturbances as unacceptable and has directed security agencies to enforce the curfew strictly.
The curfew takes immediate effect and will remain in place until further notice,” the statement read.
Residents were warned to stay indoors, avoid spreading misinformation, and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information to help restore peace.
“Government will not condone acts of violence and is committed to protecting lives and property,” Wonosikou added.
He emphasized that violators of the curfew would be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
