Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, has expressed delight over Nigeria’s narrow 1-0 victory against Botswana at the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), in Morocco.

Chiwendu Ihezuo netted the decisive goal late in the keenly contested match on Thursday night, sealing Nigeria’s place in the quarter-finals.

Ajibade acknowledged the resilience of the Mares, describing the encounter as tough and praising Botswana’s performance.

“Botswana is a good side, and they showed that in this game,” Ajibade told journalists after the match. “No team should be underrated in this tournament. Every team is well managed.”

She added, “It was a very challenging game for us, and we’re grateful to have secured the victory.”

Nigeria, nine-time champions of the tournament, will now shift focus to the quarter-final stage as they continue their quest for a 10th WAFCON title.
