Two persons have been confirmed dead and thirteen others injured in a fatal road crash that occurred along the Ringim-Kano Road in Kano State.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), said the accident, which happened around 10:40 a.m., involved two Volkswagen vehicles and was caused by over-speeding and wrongful overtaking.
FRSC Sector Commander in Kano, Mr. Umar Mas’ud, confirmed the incident, stating that all 15 passengers involved were from Bareda village in Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
He said the corpses of the deceased were recovered and the injured rushed for prompt medical attention.
Mas’ud further disclosed that a total of ₦2,166,700 was recovered from the crash scene.
The money, belonging to the deceased and a survivor, was handed over to their families in the presence of Divisional Police Officer, ASP Abdullahi Ibrahim.
In his reaction, FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed extended condolences to the bereaved families and advised motorists to obey traffic regulations.
He warned against overs-peeding, dangerous overtaking, and night journeys, stressing the importance of vehicle roadworthiness, especially during the rainy season.
