The Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (PICNG), is poised to expand its footprint with the imminent commissioning of three new core partner refueling sites in Ado Ekiti, Abuja, and Enugu.

This move marks a major milestone in the federal government’s drive to promote clean energy alternatives for automobile fueling across Nigeria.

The Program Director of PICNG, Engr. Michael Oluwagbemi, confirmed the development on Friday, noting that installation work is actively ongoing at the three new sites, which are scheduled to go live in the coming weeks.

“With these additions, we will have six fully commissioned refueling sites under the PICNG program,” he stated.

This follows the activation of the Mono Energy Limited station in Lokoja, Kogi State, which went live this week as part of the PCNGI Equipment Onlending Program.

The Lokoja site joins Ilorin and Port Harcourt as fully commissioned facilities, pending final permits from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), and completion of gas supply arrangements.

Engr. Oluwagbemi commended the PCNGI engineers and technical team for their efficiency and professionalism in delivering the projects with minimal external support.

The initiative plans further expansion, with new refueling sites set to be rolled out in Kaduna, Kano, Minna, and Aba soon after the current phase.

These developments underscore PICNG’s commitment to building a sustainable natural gas ecosystem for Nigeria’s transportation sector.
