The Confederation of African Football (CAF), has opened an investigation into the Algerian Women’s National Team over alleged breaches of regulations during the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), in Morocco.

According to CAF, the inquiry focuses on incidents including the removal of “Morocco 2024” from promotional materials, covering of Royal Air Maroc sponsor logos, and the concealment of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation’s emblem with black duct tape.

These actions have been widely condemned as violations of sponsor rights and CAF protocols.

CAF emphasized its commitment to maintaining the integrity of African competitions but said it will make no further comments until the investigation is concluded.

The timing of the probe is significant, as Algeria prepares to face Nigeria’s Super Falcons in a crucial group-stage match that could determine both teams’ progression in the tournament.
