Captain of Ghana’s Black Satellites, Aziz Misbau, has expressed confidence ahead of their opening clash against Nigeria in the 2025 WAFU B U-20 Championship.
The much-anticipated encounter between the two West African giants is scheduled to take place today, Thursday, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
Speaking during a pre-match press conference, Misbau acknowledged the pedigree of the Flying Eagles but maintained that the Ghanaian side is calm, focused, and fully prepared for the challenge.
“Nigeria is a big country, and we respect them. But we are very ready for this game,” Misbau stated. “There is no pressure on us to beat Nigeria. We respect them, but it’s a normal game.”
Nigeria, the defending champions, defeated Ghana in the final of the previous edition of the tournament, adding more intensity to today’s fixture.
Both sides are seen as favourites in the two-week regional championship, which features seven nations from the WAFU Zone B sub-region.
The Black Satellites are banking on home support to fuel a winning start as the team aims to reclaim regional dominance.
The match is expected to attract a large turnout of fans eager to witness another chapter in the fierce Ghana-Nigeria football rivalry.
