The Oyo State Government has reaffirmed its ban on the use of mobile phones, smartwatches, and Meta eyeglasses in schools, especially during examinations, warning of strict penalties for violators.
Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olusegun Olayiwola, issued the warning on Wednesday during a meeting with top education stakeholders at the ministry’s conference room.
He emphasized that students are prohibited from bringing phones or any electronic gadgets into classrooms or exam halls, in line with an existing official circular.
Olayiwola stressed that smart devices capable of aiding exam malpractice, including smartwatches and Meta glasses are strictly forbidden.
He urged school administrators to enforce the directive diligently and called on parents and teachers to educate students on the importance of compliance.
“We must all work together to uphold the integrity of our education system and maintain discipline across our schools,” the commissioner said.
