The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), has launched a nationwide crackdown on illegal training institutions and unlicensed practitioners.

Speaking in Minna, Registrar Alhaji Ndagi Alhassan said the Council, backed by 21 zonal offices and local monitoring committees, is working with state Health Commissioners to shut down rogue schools and arrest quacks.

“Our Legal Unit prosecutes offenders across states, and we collaborate closely with the ICPC and Police,” he stated, noting that a nurse now serves as a Commissioner of Police to fast-track enforcement.

The Council is also revising nursing curricula in partnership with the NUC and NBTE to raise clinical training standards.

A new X-ray Council has been established and is being equipped.

Alhassan reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to protecting public health and maintaining professional integrity within the nursing sector.
