Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has ordered the urgent reconstruction of the flood-damaged Makera-Kangiwa road, a key link between Kebbi and Niger State.
During an inspection visit on Wednesday, Governor Idris emphasized the road’s economic importance, noting it serves both local communities and cross-border trade.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris, the governor said, “This administration will not rest until critical infrastructure across the state is restored and expanded. Our people deserve the dividends of democracy, and we are committed to delivering just that.”
He directed the Ministry of Works to immediately identify and assign a competent contractor to begin reconstruction.
Commissioner for Works, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar-Muslim, assured the public that the contractor engagement process was already underway.
“We understand the hardship this road’s condition has caused. His Excellency’s directive is clear, no delays, no excuses,” he stated.
