The Minister of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, has called on Labour Party’s vice-presidential candidate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, to apologize to Vice President Kashim Shettima over recent controversial remarks.

Baba-Ahmed, who ran alongside Peter Obi in the 2023 general election, had criticized Shettima during an appearance on Arise News, suggesting that President Bola Tinubu had exercised “rare patience” by retaining Shettima as Vice President.

Without giving specifics, Baba-Ahmed hinted that Shettima’s past actions should have disqualified him from holding such a high office.

“Anyone who knows what Shettima did would not allow him to remain in office,” he said.

Reacting on Arise News on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, Musawa described Baba-Ahmed’s comments as “dangerous insinuations based on lies” and demanded a public apology.

“I think Datti needs to apologize to the Vice President,” she said. “What exactly was he trying to say? He made vague and very harmful statements without facts. It’s a real shame.”

Musawa urged political figures to avoid spreading misinformation that could undermine public trust or incite unnecessary tension.
