The Anambra State Government has called on all eligible residents to participate actively in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), exercise ahead of the November 8, 2025 governorship election.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the state Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, described the exercise as crucial to strengthening democracy and ensuring inclusive participation in the electoral process.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) began the CVR exercise on Tuesday, July 8, and it will end on Wednesday, July 17.

The exercise is intended to allow eligible citizens to obtain or update their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

Mefor encouraged newly eligible voters, especially those who just turned 18, as well as residents who recently relocated to Anambra or lost their voter cards, to visit the nearest registration centres.

“This is a crucial step in making our democracy vibrant and representative of the people’s will,” he said, urging citizens to also visit the INEC website for further details.

Despite the importance of the exercise, our correspondent reports that turnout across major centres in the state has been low, largely due to rainfall and limited public awareness.
