The National Examinations Council (NECO), has released the results of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), conducted for Junior Secondary School (JSS3), students across Nigeria.

NECO Registrar, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, announced the release at the Council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State, stating that the results have been uploaded to the NECO portal for access by schools and candidates.

“A total of 1,462,350 candidates registered for the examination nationwide,” Wushishi said. “Schools can now log on to the NECO portal to print and distribute the results to their candidates.”

He noted that despite minor disruptions caused by weather and logistics in a few areas, the examination was largely conducted smoothly across the country.

He also commended schools and state education ministries for their cooperation.

According to the Registrar, 89% of candidates scored at least five credits, including English and Mathematics, marking a slight improvement over the previous year’s performance.

However, he expressed concern over ongoing incidents of examination malpractice.

NECO withheld the results of 3,125 candidates over various infractions, which are currently under review by the Council’s Ethics and Disciplinary Committee.

“We remain committed to upholding the integrity of our examinations and will continue working with stakeholders to curb malpractice,” Wushishi stated.

Parents and candidates are advised to check results via the official NECO website or through their respective schools.

The BECE serves as the qualifying examination for admission into senior secondary schools across Nigeria.
