Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the Federal Capital Territory, says the Labour Party (LP), is too fractured to succeed in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Channels TV’s Political Paradigm on Tuesday, Kingibe described the party as “broken,” with internal divisions that undermine its viability as a national political platform.
“The Labour Party in its current state cannot win any election. It’s very fractured. There are two factions, and I belong to one,” she said.
Kingibe revealed that, although still an LP member, she is aligning with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), for the upcoming FCT local government elections, citing ADC’s credible candidates.
Asked if she would consider leaving LP entirely, she replied, “Maybe, I might eventually leave.”
