The management of Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, formerly The Polytechnic, Ibadan, has warned students against any planned protest over the recent renaming of the institution.

In a statement on Monday, Acting Registrar Joseph Ogunjimi advised parents and guardians to caution their wards, following reports of a planned demonstration and possible closure of the school gates.

The protest is in response to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s decision to rename the institution in honour of the late former governor, Dr. Omololu Olunloyo.

Last week, students staged a protest, accusing the government of not consulting them before the change.

The management cautioned that any disruptive action would be viewed as an affront to the institution and the state government, warning of consequences.

Security agencies have been mobilised to ensure peace on campus, the statement added.
