The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), on Tuesday staged a protest in Abuja, urging the Federal Government to stop funding individuals allegedly occupying local government seats in Osun State without legal mandate.

Protesters marched from Unity Fountain to the offices of the Attorney General and Minister of Finance, submitting letters demanding respect for court rulings and constitutional order.

HURIWA’s National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, accused the APC of defying court judgments by retaining control of Osun LGs, calling it a violation of the Constitution and democratic principles.

He insisted that funds should be redirected to PDP officials elected on February 22, 2025, in line with OSSIEC’s notice and the Electoral Act 2022.

Onwubiko warned that continued funding of “illegal occupiers” undermines public trust in democracy and the rule of law.
