Fluminense defender Thiago Silva says it would be “special” to knock former club Chelsea out of the FIFA Club World Cup.
The Brazilian side faces Chelsea in the semi-final today (Tuesday), with Silva set to play against the club where he won the UEFA Champions League and Club World Cup in 2021.
“It will be special if we manage to eliminate Chelsea, even with all the affection I have for them,” Silva said. “But on the pitch, we fight for our team. After the tournament, I’ll go back to supporting Chelsea and PSG as always.”
Fluminense are unbeaten in their last five matches, while Chelsea reached the semis after a group-stage loss to Flamengo and a 2-1 win over Palmeiras in the quarter-finals.
