Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has asserted that only the Nigerian electorate has the power to determine whether President Bola Tinubu remains in office beyond 2027.
Speaking during a political gathering in Port Harcourt, Amaechi emphasized that the future of any administration lies in the hands of the people, not a few political elites.
“It is not for one man or a group of politicians to decide who stays or who goes. Only Nigerians can stop President Tinubu if they feel he has not met their expectations. The power lies with the people,” he said.
Amaechi urged citizens to take their democratic responsibility seriously by registering to vote, holding leaders accountable, and making informed choices based on performance rather than sentiments or inducements.
The former Rivers State governor added that democracy can only thrive when people recognize and exercise their role with unity and purpose.
His remarks come amid rising debates over President Tinubu’s performance and speculation surrounding his possible re-election bid in 2027.
Political observers have described the upcoming polls as pivotal to Nigeria’s democratic future.
