Alhaji Mohammed Angulu Loko has emerged as the chairmanship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), for the February 21, 2026, council election in Abaji Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Loko, who was the sole aspirant, was affirmed as the party’s candidate through a delegate vote supervised by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Chairman of the YPP electoral committee and returning officer for the election, Comrade Wale Martins, announced the outcome on Saturday.
He said the affirmation process was conducted in line with the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act, using the Option A4 method.
Out of 100 accredited delegates, Loko secured 98 votes, while two votes were declared invalid.
Martins also announced the affirmation of ten councilorship aspirants as the party’s flagbearers for the upcoming election.
He commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise and urged the candidates to work together toward victory at the polls.
