The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has denied reports suggesting it has joined the newly formed opposition coalition led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The clarification follows the appearance of top PDP figures, such as Atiku Abubakar, Sule Lamido, Aminu Tambuwal, and Dele Momodu in alignment with the ADC-backed coalition, where they reportedly urged other “well-meaning” PDP members to support the alliance.

In a statement on Thursday, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, made it clear that the party has not taken any official position on the matter.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the NWC states in clear terms that the PDP has not taken any official position on the issue of coalition,” he said.

Ologunagba emphasized that the party is currently focused on fostering internal unity, strengthening its structures nationwide, and preparing for a successful national convention aimed at repositioning the PDP ahead of the 2027 polls.

He added that while the PDP remains open to collaboration with like-minded individuals and groups committed to rescuing Nigeria from what he described as the “rudderless and insensitive APC-led administration,” no formal alliance has yet been approved.

“All machineries are being put in place to re-activate the PDP’s winning ways,” he affirmed, as the party gears up for the political contest ahead.
