The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr. Olusola Odumosu, has condemned the increasing cases of child molestation in Abuja and its environs.

Odumosu made this known during a courtesy visit by students and staff of ECWA Hill Academy to his office in Abuja.

He reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to combating trafficking, gender-based violence, and child abuse.

“It is sad to say that currently, we are handling a case of a father molesting his nine-year-old daughter,” he disclosed. “We are deeply concerned about this rising trend of abuse, especially against the girl child.

The NSCDC, through its gender unit and in collaboration with relevant agencies, is determined to ensure these crimes are not treated with levity.”

He emphasized that the protection of children from molestation, trafficking, and organ harvesting remains a core responsibility of the corps.
