The Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, has commissioned the Kano Digital Industrial Park as part of the Federal Government’s efforts to create jobs and drive technological innovation across the country.

Located in Kano, the facility is expected to serve as a hub for digital skills development, tech-driven entrepreneurship, and innovation, particularly among the youth and small businesses.

The park, which was completed in 2024 but vandalized during the August 1 protests, has now been fully restored through the intervention of IHS Towers.

At the commissioning ceremony, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by his deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo commended Dr. Tijani for his dedication to digital development in the North.

He pledged that the state government would train 300,000 youths in digital skills by 2027, noting that over 5,000 civil servants have already received such training.

Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Aminu Maida, stated that the park aligns with Nigeria’s national digital economy strategy.

“This park will serve as a launchpad for industrial and technological advancement in Kano, especially by equipping young people with digital skills and opportunities,” he said.

As part of the ceremony, Dr. Tijani was honoured with the traditional title of “Sarkin Yakin Digitalization of Kano” and presented with a ceremonial sword and hat in appreciation of his contributions.

The Kano State Government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the success of the digital park, which is poised to become a key driver of tech innovation and economic growth in the region.
