Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed the recently formed opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing it as a congregation of disgruntled politicians lacking credibility and cohesion.

Speaking during a media parley on Thursday in Abuja, Wike labeled the coalition a “desperate refuge” for political actors who, according to him, failed in their attempts to control the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“There is no coalition,” Wike said. “The opposition has decimated themselves. The only party that can, if properly managed, challenge this government is the PDP.”

He specifically accused former Senate President David Mark of trying to hijack the PDP’s leadership before surfacing as interim chairman of the ADC-led coalition.

With the 2027 general elections approaching, Wike insisted that, despite its internal challenges, the PDP remains the only viable opposition force capable of taking on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), provided the party stays united.

“Politics is about interest. They did everything to hijack the PDP’s leadership, but we stood our ground and resisted it,” Wike stated.
