Fire Razes Shops in Ibadan, Destroys Goods Worth Millions

A late-night fire on Tuesday gutted several shops in the Papa area of Alakia Isebo Road, Ibadan, Oyo State, destroying goods worth millions of naira.

The incident occurred in a row of shops beside the Akin-Alamu building, with five shops severely affected.

The Oyo State Fire Service confirmed the incident and said its team responded promptly to the distress call.

According to a statement by the Chairman of the Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, the service received the emergency alert at exactly 11:22 p.m.

Firefighters led by CFS Adesina Olusoji were quickly deployed to the scene, where they met the shops already engulfed in flames.

The team successfully contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to adjacent properties.

After extinguishing the blaze, salvage operations were conducted to minimize further loss.

While the fire caused extensive damage to property, no casualties were recorded.

Authorities have yet to disclose the cause of the fire, and investigations are ongoing.
