Nigeria’s table tennis ace, Quadri Aruna, has slipped one spot to 20th in the latest International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), world rankings, though he retains his status as Africa’s top-ranked male player.
The slight drop follows a string of mixed results, including an early exit at the Africa Cup and tough outings at recent World Table Tennis (WTT), events.
Despite the setback, Aruna remains one of the sport’s most consistent performers globally.
Meanwhile, Nigerian female sensation Fatima Bello has made impressive strides, climbing to 117th in the women’s rankings.
Her rise is attributed to strong performances at international competitions, including a standout showing at the African Games and qualification for the 2025 ITTF World Cup.
The updated rankings highlight Nigeria’s growing presence on the world stage, with Bello’s rapid progress signaling a bright future for the country’s female athletes in the sport.
