President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State have received widespread commendation for backing the production and rollout of locally manufactured electric vehicles in Nigeria.

The Chief Executive Officer of Electric Motor Vehicle Company (EMVC), Prince Mustapha Audu, praised the President’s support during the commissioning of electric SUVs, sedans, tricycles, and motorcycles in Nasarawa.

He also lauded Governor Sule for his commitment to pioneering sustainable mobility in the state.

Governor Sule announced plans to empower residents with electric vehicles to improve transportation and reduce dependency on fossil fuels.

Audu highlighted EMVC’s innovation, stating the firm has SUVs capable of covering 1,200 km on a single charge and ride-hailing sedans with a 400 km range.

The locally produced tricycles and motorcycles, popularly known as “Igwe,” are tailored for Nigerian roads and affordability.

To support the vehicles, EMVC is rolling out solar-powered charging stations, which can charge three vehicles simultaneously without relying on the national grid. Plans are underway to expand to five stations.

According to Audu, a full charge could cost as little as ₦5,000, depending on battery size.

The electric vehicles use lithium batteries to reduce carbon emissions and promote clean energy.

EMVC is also setting up battery assembly lines, repair centers, and training hubs to encourage adoption and sustainability.

Prince Audu urged Nigerians to embrace electric mobility as a cleaner and more economical alternative to conventional transportation.
