Saudi Arabian authorities have approved the burial of Nigerian business mogul and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, in the holy city of Madina, in accordance with his final wish to be laid to rest beside his late wife, Rabi’a Dantata, who died in 2023.
The confirmation was made by his Principal Private Secretary, Mustapha Junaid, in a Facebook post on Sunday, June 29, 2025.
He disclosed that Dantata’s body will be moved from Abu Dhabi to Madina, with the burial scheduled for the morning of Monday, June 30.
“Alhamdulillah… I have received the approval to move Aminu Alhassan Dantata from Abu Dhabi to Madina.
“He will be buried tomorrow morning by the grace of Allah,” Junaid wrote.
The Dantata family had earlier noted that the 94-year-old patriarch had expressed a heartfelt desire to be buried in Madina, close to his wife, and the family remained committed to fulfilling that request.
A special Salatul Ga’ib (funeral prayer in absentia) was held in Kano on Saturday in his honour.
The solemn prayer session attracted a large crowd of mourners, including the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, and other prominent dignitaries.
Alhaji Aminu Dantata died in Dubai and was revered across Nigeria for his business legacy, charitable works, and contributions to Northern Nigeria’s development.
His interment in Islam’s second holiest city stands as a final act of honour to a man whose life embodied service, faith, and humility.
