The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), has warned students, parents, and the general public to disregard a fake loan portal currently circulating online.

In a statement issued Monday in Abuja, the Fund’s Director of Strategic Communications, Mrs Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, said the misleading message falsely claims that President Bola Tinubu has directed the reopening of the NELFUND student loan portal.

She clarified that the link shared in the viral message (https://nelfund-student-loan-2025.po-rt-al.com/NELFUND/) is fake, urging the public not to click on unverified links or share personal information on suspicious websites.

Oluwatuyi appealed to students to report any suspicious platforms or messages to NELFUND via email at info@nelf.gov.ng.

She emphasized that all official announcements will be made only through the Fund’s verified communication channels.

Students were also advised to follow NELFUND on its official social media handles: X (formerly Twitter) @nelfund, Instagram @nelfund, and Facebook and LinkedIn at Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
