Panic gripped residents of Dukpa Road in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), over the weekend after the body of a suspected commercial motorcyclist was discovered inside an abandoned building.

According to eyewitnesses, the yet-to-be-identified victim was found by a local resident who had entered the deserted area to relieve himself.

Alarmed by the gruesome sight, he alerted nearby motorcyclists, some of whom claimed to recognize the deceased as one of their colleagues.

Shuaibu Musa, a Dukpa resident, described the scene as horrifying. “The man’s hands were tied behind his back, his throat was slit, and there were multiple stab wounds to his abdomen. We believe he was killed by bike thieves,” he said.

Police operatives reportedly arrived shortly after, documented the crime scene, and began preliminary investigations.

Members of the Motorcycle Union in Gwagwalada, led by Dantani Salihu, assisted in evacuating the corpse to a nearby mortuary.

As of the time of filing this report, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, SP Adeh Josephine, had yet to comment on the incident.

The discovery has sparked fear among local residents and raised fresh concerns over rising cases of violent crimes targeting commercial motorcyclists in the area.
