There is heightened security at Wadata Plaza, the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Abuja, as armed police officers have taken positions ahead of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), meeting scheduled for today.
Sources within the party, who spoke to the press on condition of anonymity, alleged that the police presence was aimed at preventing a proposed Expanded Caucus Meeting from holding.
Despite the heavy security, some PDP staff members were allowed to enter the secretariat without obstruction.
The police have cordoned off Dalaba Street, the main access road leading to the PDP headquarters, further escalating tensions around the already high-stakes meeting.
