Israeli Man Dies After Sudden Illness in Abuja Hotel

A 73-year-old Israeli national, Avi Warshaviak, died on Saturday after falling ill at Corinthia Villa Hotel in the Garki area of Abuja, where he was lodged with his wife.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, Warshaviak became suddenly ill around 9:51 a.m. and was rushed to Asokoro General Hospital, where doctors later confirmed him dead.

The Chief Security Officer of the hotel, Okorie Emmanuel, promptly reported the incident to the Garki Divisional Police Headquarters at about 11:23 a.m.

Police officers visited both the hotel and the hospital, took statements, and moved the body to the mortuary for an autopsy.

Authorities say efforts are underway to notify the Israeli Embassy in Nigeria to begin consular procedures.
