A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in a six-count defamation charge filed by the federal government.
Justice Muhammad Umar, who delivered the ruling on Monday, June 30, 2025, approved the bail on personal recognizance after considering the defense’s affidavit and the senator’s status.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan pleaded not guilty to all charges. Her lawyer, Roland Otaro, urged the court to grant bail, stressing she was not a flight risk.
The prosecution, led by M.B. Abubakar, did not oppose the application.
The case has been adjourned to September 22 for hearing.
