The Confederation of African Football (CAF), will unveil a brand-new trophy for the 2025 edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), on Wednesday, July 2, in Morocco; this year’s host nation.
The launch aligns with CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe’s commitment to the growth and development of women’s football across the continent, a vision he has repeatedly emphasized.
The unveiling will be held in two phases: a digital launch on CAF’s official platforms in the afternoon, followed by an activation event in the evening in partnership with sponsors TotalEnergies.
Details of the trophy’s design and symbolic meaning will be revealed during the ceremonies, adding to the growing excitement surrounding the tournament.
WAFCON 2025 is set to be a landmark event, featuring 12 national teams and a significant increase in prize money, rising from $975,000 to $2.4 million.
The tournament will run from July 5 to 26, 2025, with the opening match between hosts Morocco and Zambia scheduled to take place at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.
