Rivers Angels have clinched their 10th President Federation Cup title after staging a dramatic comeback and defeating Nasarawa Amazons 4-2 on penalties.

Despite dominating early proceedings, the Port Harcourt-based team fell behind just seven minutes into the match when Rocket Shockwave capitalized on a defensive error to put the Amazons ahead.

Shockwave struck again ten minutes later, giving the Lafia side a comfortable 2–0 lead at halftime.

Rivers Angels came out determined in the second half, and their persistence paid off when Taiwo Ajibade pulled one back.

Minutes later, former Flamingos midfielder Taiwo Afolabi lobbed in the equalizer to level the score.

In the ensuing penalty shootout, Nasarawa Amazons missed their opening spot-kick through Esther Adesoji.

Rivers Angels then converted three straight penalties, and goalkeeper Anderline Mgbechi made a crucial save before stepping up to score the winning goal herself.

The victory marks another historic moment for Rivers Angels, solidifying their status as one of Nigeria’s most successful women’s football clubs.
